Reading is a Never Ending Adventure
Ask for More Jackson participated in Read Across America Day at Walton Elementary School and Smith Elementary School. Read Across America is an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association that began in 1997.
One part of the project is National Read Across America Day, an observance in the United States held on the school day closest to March 2, the birthday of iconic author and illustrator Dr. Seuss.
The Ask for More Jackson team, dressed as The Cats in the Hats, read some of their favorite Dr. Seuss Books (Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?, Oh the Places You Can Go, Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!) to students and engaged them in activities to promote literacy. We wanted students to know that they can take many journeys and have many adventures through reading a book.
