Creative Displays By Jackson School Students

Ricky The Rock

This display showcased the rock art of students and teachers. After the read aloud, students shared what they would do to help Ricky, the rock roll, discussed where they can find rocks, learned about the 3 different kinds of rocks, constructed a Tree Map for words that begin and words that end with “R, created list of words that rhyme with rock and shared, through writing, how they would get Ricky, the Rock to roll.

Grades K-2: Used the 3 primary colors to paint and design (shapes, objects) your rocks.

Grades 3-5 and others: Used the 3 secondary colors to paint and design (shapes, objects) your rocks.

Pete The Cat- I Love My White Shoes

This display showcased the creativity of students and teachers using fabric paint to design new socks for Pete, the Cat. After listening to the read aloud, students talked about their favorite color of socks, named words that rhyme with socks, discussed things that come in pairs, and wrote a story about the new socks they designed for Pete, the Cat.
